I have rec.d your favour of the 9th:- The
sample of Wool you sent me, is very fine, and
has all the characters of the true Merino,
I have seen some samples, still finer, but a
flock of such Sheep as yours, will bring you
an income of which you have but little
conception at present - Will it not be well
to stock the Marlborough Lands with Sheep?
I wish you to aid Beach in improving
his flock as fast as possible.
In selecting sheep of the common breed
of our Country, those of a fine wool ought
to be prefered.
I have spoken for a [seal?] &c for you, the
price of the whole will be 53. or 54 dollars.
My daughter has a box with sundries
for the children which will be sent the first
opportunity. We expect the Trident daily.
With respects to all Friends, I remain
affectionately,
Oliv. Wolcott Jr
